Membership:
Only a doctor, a pharmacist, or another professional in health care or a related field or a university student who is preparing for the above-mentioned professions can become a member of the Society. Only a physical person who is competent, over eighteen years of age and who meets the conditions for membership according to the statutes, agrees with the mission and the aims of the Society and undertakes to contribute to their fulfilment with his/her written application can become a member.
Types of membership:
a) Full membership.
Granting of full membership is conditioned by a specialization exam in ophthalmology and demonstrable knowledge in the field, including surgical experience, all of which must be documented in the form of relevant certificates and a professional CV. The holders of full membership have the right to vote at the members´ meeting and can be elected as Committee members.
b) Basic membership.
Granting of basic membership is conditioned by a specialization exam in ophthalmology and an interest in field, with minimal (or none) or limited surgical experience or a specialization exam in another field, with an interest in the subject. All of the above needs to be documented in the form of relevant certificates and a professional CV. The holders of the basic membership have the right to vote at the members´ meeting, but do not have the right to be elected as Committee members.
c) Associate membership.
An associate member can be a doctor in specialized training in the field of ophthalmology, a pharmacist, or another professional in health care or a related field, or a university student who is preparing for the above professions, with an interest in the subject and demonstrable knowledge in the field. All of the above needs to be documented in a professional CV or confirmed with a successful completion of a test. Associate members have the right to participate in educational events of the Society and at the members´ meetings, but they do not have the right to vote at the members´ meeting nor to be elected into the Committee.
d) Honorary membership.
The Society can bestow honorary membership for exceptional contributions on the development of ophthalmology and oculoplastic surgery in particular. The Committee shall decide on granting honorary membership. Honorary members have the same rights and obligations as full members; however, they do not pay membership fees. Honorary members do not have the right to vote at a members´ meeting nor to be elected into the Committee. Nevertheless, honorary members may attend both the members´ meeting and the committee meeting whenever they so request. They act in an advisory capacity. The members´ meeting is entitled to withdraw the honorary membership based on a proposal of the Committee, which is to be performed only in serious cases.
How to become a member of the Society?

- You will receive an acknowledgment of receipt of your application.
- Your application will be discussed at the next Committee meeting. You will then be informed of your acceptance.
- We will contact you regarding the payment of your membership fee.

Doctors in specialized training and on maternity leave: 600 CZK

Membership fees are due by the 31st March of each calendar year.
With the members´ consent, the members´ list is published on the website of the Society.
The Committee shall decide on granting of all types of membership on the basis of a written or an electronic application, supported by the required certificates and a professional CV or passing of a test, by simple majority. The Committee shall make a decision on the acceptance of new members at its next meeting after receiving the applications. Membership in the Society comes into effect on the day of the application. A member is obliged to pay a membership fee for the year in which his/her membership started. The Committee has the right not to approve an applicant’s membership. An appeal against the decision of the Committee not to approve an applicant’s membership is admissible, and will be decided at the next members´ meeting.
