Dear colleagues, dear friends,
Welcome to the website of the Czech Society of Oculoplastic Surgery (ČOPS).
I was also wondering whether we indeed needed another society in our small territory. Based on our experience and development abroad, I have decided that yes, we do. You can find the aims of our association in the Articles of the Society, namely the Article III., but our main goal should be a rational combination of medical and cosmetic surgery in the upper 2/3 facial segments. Of course, this aim also includes an explanation that in some cases a surgery is considered inappropriate. We do not expect a massive influx of applicants but we would like to address those who devote themselves to the subject while improving communication among us and with other entities. For practical reasons, only a limited number of people were involved in the establishment of the Society, but we tried to capture everything of importance. Perhaps the last impulse leading to the establishment of the Czech Society of Oculoplastic Surgery was the approval of the congress of the European Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ESOPRS) which will take place in Prague in 2025. I hope that by then we will be a consolidated society achieving our objectives.
Wishing to keep medicine and commerce in a reasonable balance,
Pavel Diblík, Prague 7 March 2021
THE CZECH SOCIETY OF OCULOPLASTIC SURGERY (hereinafter referred to as the “Society“) is a professional scientific society whose purpose is to bring together doctors and other medical professionals who share an interest in the field of ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery. The Society also aims to apply and adopt new scientific discoveries into practice and thus enhance professional knowledge in this discipline.
The main partner of the Society in the Czech Republic is the Czech Ophthalmological Society (ČOS) under the Czech Medical Association of J. E. Purkyně (hereinafter referred to as “CzMA”).
The Society is preparing close collaboration with the European Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ESOPRS), and other professional institutions on the subject.
More about the Association:
The Czech Society of Oculoplastic Surgery is dedicated to ocular adnexal surgery, including corrective dermatology procedures in the middle and upper facial segments (the use of botulinum toxin, hyaluronic acid, PDO threads, other material and microinvasive techniques) and other procedures tested at reputable departments.
The Society is entitled to issue statements for its members on recommended procedures, substances used in general and all relevant facts related to the provision of care in the field of ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery.
Moreover, the Society organizes lectures, seminars, courses and publishing activities for its members with the purpose of enhancing knowledge and expertise of selected specialists – e.g. by organizing study stays and internships and by exchanging information on surgical techniques and material, all in compliance with the conditions laid down in the relevant legislation and regulations. At least once a year, the Society hosts a discussion forum for its members and professionals, which is devoted to the subject of ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery and other topics.
The Czech Society of Oculoplastic Surgery enjoys cooperation with other institutions, especially the ones abroad, while supporting professional knowledge sharing among its members.
